on the fiberglass fly rodders board there is a discussion of ceramic guides. one of the guys posted some pictures of some two foot ceramic insert snake style guides that he had aquired from a closed down rod building business. he had never seen them before and did not know a manufacurer. what they were was double foot guides very much like a snake guide but with a ceramic insert. i am not talking about double foot ceramic stripper style guides or casting guides. these look like snakes. anyone know who makes these? Pacific Bay once made the "N" frame type that had legs that favored snake guides. Beyond that, you'd not be able to get a ceramic ring to stay put in a regular snake guide - the frame is open on the bottom and wouldn't hold a ring.

pacific bay still offers the N style guide. it's listed under their casting/spinning guide section and it's noted in the description they make good strippers for fly rods (and that's how i use them). usually the smallest size is an 8, but with the illusion styling, they offer them as far down as a 6. since i've only been tinkering with wrapping rods for about 4 years, perhaps they offered them smaller long ago...

saw those N guides. they are similar but not exact to what the guy has. here is the link to the discussion. [p099.ezboard.com]
you will find it half way down. "andymanyankee" has some pictures of the guides and the N guides are discussed, smaller than the smallest pack bay. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
