I also want to try some marblizing on this next rod I'm doing for a client. Is the method described above in the library the basic method used on all these pretty rods in the pic gallery?
Also, my plan is to put Marbling under the guides and maybe some flames here and there. I'm gonna start with Metallic Silver underwraps(this is an unlimited class rod). Epoxy a thin coat coat over those wraps, tape off the area I don't want marbled, and marble over the underwraps. Is this a plan, or not? If it needs any adjusting please inform me of what I'm doing wrong or where to get the correct info. Thanks.............Kyle Ps, I did a search before this post and found some info, just not all the info. I will also play with it first on a test blank, so no, I'm not gonna be too wreckless. ;) Re: Marblizing

The article in the library covers the basics of the process pretty well. What you haven't seen there you've likely seen in the archived posts here.
Play around with it. You might come up with some new ideas or methods for this technique. .............. Re: Marblizing

Kyle,
The article pretty much covers it. The nice thing about marbleing is that the only limit is your imagination! Subtle, Flamboyant, loud, classy - whatever you want to make it. Play with it on an old blank and have fun. Feel free to e-mail me with any questions Mike mbarkley@wowway.com Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Re: Marblizing

Kyke Mike barkley and putter are the two gurues when it comes to marble work. to be honest we have all done it in the past. I would recomend the dvd by putter parpart to start it helps to see it done the first time. Then be careful as mike said because you can get pretty wild if not careful. Then again wild can be what you want at times Re: Marblizing

Thanks guys, this all sounds pretty easy, and I've played with mabling paints a little in the past. Does my system of marbling over lightly epoxied underwraps sound OK? If I split the underwraps and marble on the black blank in the middle of the split under wraps I'm just worried about being able to see the inside edges of the underwrap, and I would also be marbling over a black blank, and it seems better to marble over the lighter colored silver underwrap, but I don't know about that untill I start eperimenting with the Testors paint/epoxy.
I asume I can get the Testors model paint at an RC/model type hobby shop, allthough, it's probably cheaper over the web? Any recommendations on where to get the paint. I would rather have more color options and less mixing of colors to get the right tint to match the reel seat and wraps. I know I'll have to do some mixing, but I would think less is better in that department, since I may not be able to do it all in one batch, which might change the color consistency from one end of the 10' Sharkrod to the other, but I don't know. My Ex is an artist so I might have to go get some mixing lessons from her first, actually, I think I will do that tonight. Thanks for everything, Kyle Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
