Date: June 26, 2007 08:42PM I have a custom build rod with few years of intense "job". During the last rainy fishing day the areas covered by the resin became cloudy wtih a white aspect similar to paraffin. When dry everything get back to the resin regular aspect: shiny and clear? Did you see it before? What´s up? How can I avoid it on next rods? Thanks in advance! Regards, Rogerio de Paula Brasil Re: Resin whitening

Moisture contamination.
Water is getting under your finish epoxy. Did you use color preserver? if so that may be the "way in" if your finish didn't go PAST the CP and the tunels under the guides may not have filled with epoxy and are letting the moisture in. Just one guess. Re: Resin whitening

If you allow the rod to dry thoroughly, and then clean with alcohol, then scour with Scotchbrite, then coat with a thin application of epoxy making sure to get past the edges of the wraps, you can probably eliminate the problem.
This will add a little weight to the rod, which may or may not be a problem depending on the type rod you have. A light fly rod, yes. A heavy surf or offshore rod, not likely. ............ Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
