St. Croix Decal

I m buildind a St. Croix 10-17 lb spinning rod. I would like to put the OEM decal on the rod.

I did a search on the best way to apply it, but I did not find what I was looking for .

I plan on putting in on over part of the base wrap. Should I put it on over the first coat of finish or should I put it directly on the black past the wrap and then place finish over it?

I am using flex coat finish and the decal appears to be a peel and stick.

Any info is appreciated.

I usually apply mine on a bare blank just ahead of the wrap and then coat with epoxy. I'm sure there are many different ways to do it, this is just the way I do mine.

I too put my sticker on the blank after i have applied all the CP coats that I am going to apply on the threads. Then when applying your finish just go over the blank as if your covering thread. One thing I have learned that when removing the St Croix stickers use tweezers instead of your fingernails, it seem I would always would get some contaminant on the epoxy of the sticker that wont come off.
(I have not tried, possibly the CP wouldnt hurt the sticker, I just usually put in on before finishing.)
