Blank damage ??

Just received 2 new SHI III 6 ' 1 pc blanks from one of our sponsors. These blanks were shipped in a PVC tube with plastic end caps that fit over the outside of each end of the tube. The blanks were in a plastic sleeve with Styrofoam packed tightly around them. The best packing job I have seen yet.
When I pulled one end cap off the tube (which took some doing) I noticed the tips of both blanks were sticking through the plastic cap about 1/4 ", side by side. The tip size of both blanks is 4.5. I can't see or feel any damage to the blanks. It appears that someone would have to drop this tube on it's end from a high distance or throw it like a spear for this to happen. Is it likely I could have end compression damage that I can't see or feel ? Anyone ever experience this sort of thing ?
Some folks could destroy an anvil with a rubber hammer.

Yep - evidently they THROW the tubes on something with a hard back. When it bottoms out they must slide and punch through. I have shipped some finished rods packed the same way and have had two with tips broken off - they ended up paying a claim in both cases. I would not think yours are hurt - hope so anyway! Some shippers of blanks have started to put a foam padded piece on each end about three inches long - Custom Tackle did so on my blank order.

You should be fine if the tips are intact with no visible damage. I think that it's not uncommen. I have received blanks like that and had no problems.

frustrating if you want to feel better take a q tip and run it up and down the blank it should show andy micro splits or cracks as the cotton will stick to it but truly i think you should be fine. Also wouldn't hurt to just put a slite bend in the tips to see if theres a week spot.
