Very cool inlay. I actually picked up some of these pins at the Expo. What did you use for the colored back ground for the pin inlay?
Very nice. How do these hold up with fishing abuse? If the surface gets scratched up is there a way to buff it back? Not sure how to old it in the lathe to do that but am asking/wondering as I type? Thanks, Buzz Re: Tim Sullivan, what did you use for the inlay background?!?!

Buzz, that picture was posted over a month ago. Tim might not check teh boards every day. YOur best bet is to post your question on his picture - if he clicked the button to be automatically e-mailed every time there is a question he might check. It looks like model paint.. Make sure you put down a coat of white before your colour or the colour will not be nearly as bright.
I use the same process for painting my steelhead floats. A coat or two of white and then a coat or two of flo red, orange or pink. Regards Dave Fishing is Life the rest is just Details Re: Tim Sullivan, what did you use for the inlay background?!?!

Buzz,
I used automotive paint with a white base coat and then a clear coat. I used Threadmaster to cover the pin. As far as it holding up I haven't been able to use it as of yet. But the threadmaster can be wet sanded and probably buffed out with automotive buffing compound. I had JP Timberlake do the cork shaping for me so I am unsure of that part of the process. Also had help from Jim Rippe and Mike Barkley. These gentlemen are most helpful and have posted. If you want any further info on the paint, Email me @ Tsullivan2@socal.rr.com Thanks, Tim Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
