I am reading a lot of posts referring to thread finish soaking through wraps. If you use CP on your wraps, will that not prevent the finish from soaking through into the tunnels ? I use CP on my thread wraps and try to fill the tunnels from the end next to the guide leg. I guess I am assuming no one is using CP. Or am I missing something here ? Re: Finish soaking through wraps

You will still get penetration if you use CP. Maybe not to the extent as if you hadn't used CP but it will still fill sizeable tunnels. Most penetrates at the guide foot tunnel. Re: Finish soaking through wraps

There is no need to have finish "soak" through the wraps. You do want to fill the tunnels with something, either CP or epoxy however, to keep water from seeping in there and eventually possibly undermining the wrap or rusting the guide foot.

Ok, good. I didn't think the finish would soak through CP. I didn't know since I have never cut one off to see. I always put a lot of CP on the guide foot and along the tunnel area and in the open ends. Then fill the open ends with finish using a sharp dental pick to get a drop in there. Thanks guys.
