To Tom,
I was reading your Rod-Building Guide and saw a really neat pattern on page 49, the middle rod. The pattern looks like chevron with an offset red star. Is there any place where I can get that pattern? Thanks Re: Offset star pattern

I would check with Billy Vivona.....as far as I'm concerned, he is the Guru of crosswrapping......Just my 2 cents.

If I had to guess, without looking at the page you referenced - I think that is a Butterfly. Is this wrap REd with a black background with a shadeed Yellow/Orange/REd Chevron in one direction? If I've got teh right colors, that's teh wrap.
Steve, I'm not a Guru, I happen to stalk all of Tom's wraps and have memorized every picture he's posted and put in the mag. Re: Offset star pattern

Hi Billy,
You perfectly described the wrap that was right next to the one I wanted in Tom's "Rod Building Guide" page 49. The pattern I like is the middle rod with black background, yellow to gold chevron with a half red star. Let me know if you have any luck. Thanks for your help. Re: Offset star pattern

Thanks Billy. Where would I be able to get some instruction for the pattern?
Thanks Andy Re: Offset star pattern

The pattern is on page 38 of Billy's book, but you will have to play with the background. It is also in CRTA where it's credited to Gil Rowe. Again, you will have to alter the background. Re: Offset star pattern

Thanks Royce. Forgive my ignorance, but what is CRTA? And do you need Visualwrap for Billy's book? Re: Offset star pattern

You do not need visual wrap in order to work from Billy's book. It is very explanatory and very well written. He gives step by step instructions on how to wrap the patterns, plus the initial setup. He also explains Visual Wrap, but you do not need it for his presentations.
CRTA is sort of a rodbuilers acronym for a book that was written a number of years ago by Dale Clemens. The actual title is Custom Rod Thread Art. It is no longer in print, and very expensive if found. Dale Clemens was, I believe, the first one to really devote books to rod building. He wrote three that I am aware of: "Fiberglass rod building"; "Advanced Custom Rod Building"; and "Custom Rod Thread Art" I highly recomend Billy's book. Re: Offset star pattern
