removing short fighting butt

Guys, a buddy of mine wants me to install a longer and removable fighting butt on his factory Winston 10 1/2 ft. 7wt. fly rod. The plan is to convert it to a spey rod or what they call a switch rod. My question is in removing the existing butt section without damaging the reel seat or the rod. What is the best way to go about this? i have built and repaired alot of rods over the last 30 years but never had to do anything like this. Please.............HELP.

Thanks
Wally D.

Please unhide your email address on the site by use of Mr Control Center at top of board. Click on my name and send me an email where we can communicate. This can be a highly complex issue. If done improperly you can possibly cause a situation which will cause blank failure.
