Made a mistake while gluing on my reel seat!!

I forgot to put on the reel seat ring before gluing on the end cap. I did put on the threaded section so it will still hold a reel but it will probably cut into them. Any suggestions?

I could carefully cut off the end cap, insert the ring and glue a new end cap on. It is a Pac Bay reel seat. I used U-40 Rod Bond so it is on there solid.

I could live with it but I know if I don't fix it, it will drive me crazy. I guess that is a good excuse to build another rod.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

David,

Better to sacrifice a butt cap, than to go nuts knowing that you didn't do something you should have. My 2 cents (believe me it's worth less than that).

What type of adhesive did you use? and how long ago did you put it together? i too would try to get that butt cap off. you can buy butt caps seperately depending on manufacturer.

You mean you only put the threaded nut on the barrel and not the sliding ring? That nut WILL cut into the reel foot. Count on it.

The end cape is hard to glue in place. I'm betting you can heat it just a little and tap if off the end of the seat.

I heated up the end cap and I was able to pull it off with a rag. I won't make that mistaked again.

I appreciate the help. This web site is a great resource.
