I am looking for a 9' spinning blank that will be used for vertical jigging crappie fishing. This is not a casting rod, just a long rod to reach the brush from a boat. It needs to be graphite to keep the rod as light as possible, fast or extra fast action and enough backbone to get fish out of the brush. I'm thinking a light or medium light power rating. I really prefer a one piece but I'll research any recommendations.
Thanks, Jim Re: Blank Suggestions

James, It is extremely hard to find a spinning blank that long and light enough for the old paper mouth Crappie. Consider a Steelhead blank. They have more backbone than a fly blank and you can tie them up as spinning and the warranty will still be good, whereas, a fly blank tied up as spinning will void the warranty. Most all the sponsors on the left sell Steelhead blanks. Shoot me an e-mail , I have been working on the same problem. Re: Blank Suggestions

Yes, consider a steelhead blank.
Rainshadow IST series in 4-8 lb line rating, light power rating. Comes in 9', 9 1/2', 10' and 11 1/2' lengths. The SH series is in the Forecast line in the same line rating, but only in 9 and 9 1/2' lengths. All are 2 piece. Plenty of choices out there to fit this need. Terry Re: Blank Suggestions

The problem with the steelhead blanks is the fast or X-fast action. One that's fast a little heavier butted, but a little shorter also is the Rainshadow IST993 8ft 3 in. Mark will have some european designed blanks that are more closely designed for your specications also. Re: Blank Suggestions

Look into a 3-4 wt fly blank. 2-piece fast or extra fast. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
