I have a client that uses what he calls a meat rod for salmon in puget sound. He would like to replace the standard size roller tip to a much larger pulley. he has a friend who apparently used a downrigger pulley at the tip. I'm sure I can make this work, however I would like any other suggestions. thanks guys. kevin klockow.

Sure why not... If I remember right meat rods replaced meat lines on charter boats around 30 odd years ago. Something about meat lines being outlawed for sport fishing and sport rods outlawed for commercial salmon trolling.

Been a while since I was in the midwest, but weren't the bigger wheeled roller tip tops used with wire called Twillies or something like that?

I use a "Twilly Top" in place of a roller top, for wire line on downrigger rods... works great.
