Has anyone used the Recoil guides for spinning rods? I'm going to build a 10' 4-8# surf-rod which will be traveling a lot (since I don;t live by a beach anymore) and these look like a good idea. Has anyone used them? What do you think? Re: Recoil Guides - what do you think of them?

Tim never on a surf rod but a lot on fly and spin rods. I have built probebly 30 or so fly rods and perhaps 20 spin rods. I fish with them on my fly rod using the loop and on my spin oufit with the single foot. All that said i have one word to say GREAT. I just love the feel of the line thru them and everything just is smooth. Beyond a dought the best feature of them though is there toughness. For salt water aplications (Thats what i fish here in the everglades) they are second to none. They cannot corroide and if you catch them on something causing them to bend they just bounce right back. The weight of them is one of there best fetures as they are light as a feather. Ok now the con......they are super expensive so i would not put them on a blank unless it was worth the added expense. Also when preping the feet be prepared to go thru the grinding wheel or file as the metal is so hard it is a time consuming thing. Now fugi has just come out with a new Titanium guide and i am wondering if anyone has tried it. Perhaps that will bring the recoil price down as historicly when a new item comes out the companies all price high now that titanium is not new and theres compition perhaps the price will come down hope thats a help Tim. I don't know if they are the same as the recoil guides but jannsnetcraft has some like them they are made from a stainless steel alloy...not used them yet but I've a notion to. Re: Recoil Guides - what do you think of them?

I think I'd run a Ti/SiC tip top at least, some reports of grooving from the bass guys are coming in. I think it's all braid info, but you do pick up sand out there on the beach. Re: Recoil Guides - what do you think of them?

Thanks! I'm going to try them out. I was worried if the flexibility was just a gimmick.
Ked, the ones I'm looking at are on Mudhole and are made by REC... I'll check out the jannsnetcraft ones too. Spencer, good call on the tip. Re: Recoil Guides - what do you think of them?

Billy,
As far as I know Fuji has had Titanium guides for for quite awhile. They are SIC rings, not the wire Recoil type. Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
