I have been reading past posts and really not coming up with a suitable fix. I have a Lamiglas BT 96 8S more or less the cue stick, I have several tip tops that more or less fit (size 30 & 32)but the tip top barrel is sloppy, some of the suggestions are to wrap the tip with thread to fit the barrel, fill up the barrel with epoxy, and to find a piece of scrap fit it inside the blank, or over the blank and then fit it to the barrel. All good suggestions, but on a temporary bases don't look all that appealing. It will be used for cod and small halibut 200 to 300 ft deep. Does any one make a tip top that fits this blank better than the standard Mildrum type tip top, and doesn't cost $100, a roller tip top would be OK? Re: TIPTOP SLOP

200-300 Ft a roller might be a good Idea to prevent wear and strain on the line. But I have used the thread trick before! Re: TIPTOP SLOP

I would give the thread to build up a good fit on the tip top. Wrap thread in a narrow band wide enough and tall enough to stabilize the tip top. Bond in the typical manner with fast setting epoxy (or slow set if you wish). I have done a few this way with good results and durability.
As you mentioned an extension (plug) made out of solid fiberglass blank to fit inside the blank tip to extend the tip of the blank the length of the barrel (or a little more) would also work. This solid fiberglass extension can then be ground down to a size several sizes less than than the blank tip if needed with no loss of strength. For example a blank with a tip size of 30 can have a solid fiberglass tip extension fitted inside tip then ground down to take a size 28 tip top. This difference can be even more extreme. A little thread to dress the tip top also reinforces the blank where it overlaps the extension. In one instance I made one extension like this where 1/2-inch of the fiberglass extension was visible after the tip top was installed. Thread dressing to cover it up and reinforce the blank and you could not even see the modification. Some of these mods are 15+ years old and holding up well, so I would consider this type of mod permanent. I agree with Barry a roller would probly be a good bet here. An Aftco Big Foot roller would be at home here. Lou Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
