I had a minor problem, well, I lost power to my shop during a recent COLD snap. Due to my work schedule (for my real job) I didn't notice the outage for a few days. When I got it straightened out, I found my Flex Coat high build had started to gel. (It was almost solid.) At least the resin had. As a "just had to know" thing, I globbed out a chunk into a mixing cup and put it in the micro-wave for about 20 sec. (I think that is how long it took to liquefy again.) I mixed it with equal parts to the hardener and put it on a scrap blank to turn.
Well.....it set up as it would have done normally. My question is......have any of you done this, or had this happen? If so, with what kind of out come? Where there any "long term effects..... any yellowing, ect.? Would you recomend to use this finish, or should I toss it? tight lines Re: my flex-coat......got cold......real cold.....

No long term effects whatsoever. If it happens, just strongly warm the resin until it returns to like new condition.

That's what we did. It works. We didn't have a microwave in the shop and my wife wouldn't let me use the one in the kitchen, though.

Russ, I just love to see the look in my wife's eyes when I'm nukin' something in her 'wave to do with rod building-it's precious!
I have had to nuke finish a few times because of the crystallization forming in it. It works just fine ever afterwards. Putter Williston, ND Re: my flex-coat......got cold......real cold.....

Won't be a problem. I actually keep my flex coat in my freezer....experienced rod building friend told me it helps to preserve it if you don't use it all that often. I've use flex coat that's been in the freezer on and off for a year and it comes out no different. Although I warm it up in warm water not the microwave, should be fine either way.
