Last Saturday I attended a fly tying festival here in Houston. There were over 60 tiers present. There a few rod companies present showing their wares and you could test cast some of them. It just so happened that I had my 8 wt. Maxim with me. The president of TFO rods was there and he test casted it along with another rep from another company. All they could say was that I had a great rod and a fine product. I got a few casting tips from them also to help me correct a problem that I still have when double hauling. The president of TFO rods is a fine gentleman and I was really impressed with him. The other fellow was the local rep for Echo rods. He is in his 70's but what a caster. I asked him about making long casts with a moderate action rod like mine. He said, "Like this?" and then he shot the whole line. The old gentleman is quite a character and he broke down laughing after he made the cast. Re: Andy Dear

I stood next to Joan Wulff when she did that with a 5wt custom bamboo made by a young man in Grayling, Mi, out in the parking lot at the first Antique Rod Show. I only wish I could have seen your guy do it.
It always seems these turn out to be the nicest people - - - Are you bringing this rod to the show? Uncle Russ Calico Creek Rods Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
