Walter,

Your best starting point might be buying Tom's book, it will be about $15.00

Toms book is ever so helpful as a reference guide, also knowing a rod builder in your area who you can stop by and see, helps with alot of things, like components, seeing it done 1st hand, some might offer classes, you do learn from everyone.

Mudhole (on the left) probably has the most comprehensive print catalog (and one of the few) available. Over a 100 color pages and a lot of info. Also, you can get catalogs from the manufacturers. Batson (Rainshadow/Forecast has very good ones, as does American Tackle and Pac Bay.

I definately suggest that you get a copy of Rodbuilding Guide by Tom Kirkman from one of the vendors on the left. The best $15 you will spend on this addiction!

Many of the board sponsors on the left side of this page have downloadable catalogs of the
products they offer and a few have "how to" sections as well.

Hope this is what you were looking for.
