SP: "Did a quick check with some buddies on ROD BOND years ago by bonding two nuts to a piece of blank. Had a failure at 38 ft-lbs.; the BLANK, NOT the Rod Bond [Cohesive failure, NOT Adhesive failure]." -Spencer Phipps.

CMH: The external adhesive union of the Rod-Bond between the rod blank and the rod component (gimbal; grip; reel seat; tip-top, etc.) is usually stronger than the internal cohesive integrity of the fiberglass rod (or the foam or cork grips) to which the components are bonded. Just keep that in mind if you ever try to remove a part from a rod blank that used Rod-Bond as the adhesive. You may have to cut, nip, grind or file off the bad component, rather than use a twisting force to remove the part, in order to prevent damage to the rod blank itself. -Cliff Hall.

You could build a house with it!!!!! Lot of people use it for non-rod building use. I have a friend that repairs musical instuments for a living and it's the ONLY thing that he has found that will take the abuse that a high school band can give to a brass instrument!

If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!!

The bond strength (adhesive) is going to be a factor of the area being bonded and the surface preparation that you do. Cohesive strength is something the folks at Trondak could probably tell you. But either way, it's going to be far stronger than your rod is. The strength of Rod Bond, or most any epoxy would never be an issue where any aspect of fishing rods are concerned.
