You may disagree and think that adding weight does not decrease sensitivity but I think if you read the article that is coming out in RodMaker you will see that you are wrong. Let me simplify the issue somewhat. What you feel in the rod is movement. For a given amount of energy that comes up the line from the fish's bite the more mass that has to be moved the less movement there will be. A very small amount of lead in the butt of the rod will add a significant amount of mass. Plus any time you move that rod when casting or whatever, you must overcome the inertia of that added mass. To believe that at the end of a days fishing you will have done less work and will therefore be less tired because of that added mass is just plain nonsense. Re: Make your own counter balance?
