hi guys, would like to know what type of decals g.loomis provides with their blanks..
is it those waterslide type or .. ? in most cases, people tell me that it has to be placed in water first... but yesterday, i saw a rod builder (in a shop) take the decal off the backing and apply it onto the blank, without using any water... (perhaps i have to take into consideration that the guy has been building rods for at least 20 years minimum and is a mini factory churning out rods) i have bought my 4th loomis blank and do not wish to screw up the decal, like the other 3.. - Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day.. And after applying the decal, don't rub the surface very hard or the painted on graphics will come off. Re: g. loomis rod decals

Chris,
All Gloomis decals are peel and stick. You should use a lift-off tape for proper application. This way, you will not leave any fingerprints. Also put one coat of CP over the decal before you epoxy. Anthony Lee Re: g. loomis rod decals

Anthony,
What exactly is a "lift of tape" ? I always have problems with Loomis decals. I ruin a number of them and I always have problems with finger prints. Thanks! Rich Matranga Folsom, California Re: g. loomis rod decals

Rich,
anthony has a picture of the lift off tape in his gallery. .. Hmm , was there a time where loomis used waterslide decals? i clearly recall being told to use water.. that may explain why i had problems - Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day.. I just finished a G Loomis spinning rod and when I put the label on the gold lettering came off. I contacted G Loomis and they sent me a couple more so be real careful when pressing down on the label when applying. I just peeled off the label from the backing and stuck it on the blank without using any water. G Loomis confirmed that the label is necessary for warranty of the rod blank if something happens. Reference message from G Loomis:
"Dave, That’s great to hear your new rod turned out well. What is your address? I will send you another label in the mail. The label is needed for warranty purpose. Tight Lines, Andrew Marshall G. Loomis Customer Service" Re: g. loomis rod decals

dave, i dont think we get that kind of service in SIN.. dunno if it would work if we wrote directly to loomis though.. i have done up my grips and some wraps .. now to apply the decal and hope for the best! - Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day.. I am curious if other maufactures want there decals on the blanks for warranty purposes. I am building a Rainshadow blank. I don't want to put the decal on. Re: g. loomis rod decals

If you don't apply the decal or label, at least keep it handy so that if the rod ever needs to be returned for warranty service you can send it in with the blank, or apply it before sending it in. It helps the blank manufacturer to quickly ascertain that it is indeed one of their blanks, the model number and first quality status.

Chris,
Keep the damaged decal and send it back to Gloomis for another. Do this yourself or better, through their local agent. Problem is you may have to wait about 2 months. Anthony Lee Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
