Help at Rod Builders Show...

I will be coming to the Rod Builders show in February and I was wondering if anyone might be there that could answer some questions on how to fix and possibly refinish some bamboo rods. My dad has about 5 rods ranging from fly rods to a boat rod that he would like to try and refinish and I'm hoping that someone might be willing to take a look at each one and help us figure out what is the best way to approach these projects. Neither my dad nor I have ever built any rods (I plan on building my first after the show) or refinished old rods so we have absolutely no idea what we are getting into and would like to try and get some direction from some of the pros if possible.

Yes, several bamboo rod builders will be there and one, Dave Male Bamboo, is a professional bamboo rod maker and will have a booth there.

Just bring it in and ask around. Ralph O'Quinn has built a few bamboo rods and has products that were specifically designed for refinishing bamboo rods.

Thanks Tom. I'll see if I can track those guys down when I'm there and see if they have some time to help us out.

You'll find any sort of rod building help to be more than plentiful and the builders more than a little eager to help anyone.
