after reading the tip a few times, i finally made a hole in the cap of my thread finishes.. and i made one of them slightly bigger than the syringe (it fits loosely)..
does it have any adverse effect of either the hardener or resin if there is moisture seeping into the bottle? - Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day.. Teach a man to fish, he'll be broke! Re: epoxy cap

Try wrapping a piece of tape around the syringe tip to get a snug fit Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Re: epoxy cap

I'm not sure, but I don't think moisture will cause problems as long as you're only talking about inside-the-home humidity (which is usually fairly low anyway). The thing is when you turn the bottle upside down to draw out the liquid you may have seepage if the hole is too big.
Do you have any old epoxy bottle laying around with the same size tops? Or for that matter do you have any new bottles around that you can switch tops out with? If that is possible, I'd redrill some new ones. The holes I drilled in my tops are small enough that I have to semi-force the syringe tips into them. Good luck. Jay Re: epoxy cap

erm, i think Singapore's humidity is quite high.. (we're located near equator).. i think i may need to fatten the tip of the syringe.. was thinking of stuffing those air pump tubing through the hole.. but dont think it can fit without making the hole bigger..
jay: if i switch the caps off the new bottles, then what do i cover the new bottle with? - Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day.. Teach a man to fish, he'll be broke! Re: epoxy cap

Cut a disc from a peice of cardboard such as the backing from a writing tablet and insert that in your faulty cap for your new bottle.
Another option---there is a lot of similarity in bottles/caps. Maybe you have something (not in your rod building supplies) with the same size cap. Re: epoxy cap

lol @ Singapore...sorry about that! I'm not near the equator, but our humidity is fairly high during the summer months. Still, with the a/c on it stays quite 'dry' indoors.
If you use new tops, simply put the old tops on the donor bottles and cover the hole with a piece of tape. Or use cardboard as Royce suggests. Good luck. Jay Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
