Hello to all of you,
I'm working on my first set of Dan Craft blanks. I've heard that you need to wrap the female ferrules at least 1 3/4" to avoid split outs. I've also heard that the newer models (2005 and up) don't need this extra length. What do you guys do? I have all four series represented among this set, is there any special instructions for each series? Thank you very much for your advice! Andrew Dickinson Re: Dan Craft Ferrule Wraps

Best person to ask would be Dan himself. He's very helpful. I think that the standard on ferrules is usually twice the diameter of the opening Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Re: Dan Craft Ferrule Wraps

yes, what mike said, so 1 3/4 would be way overkill. and personally, i think it looks kind of funny when people do such long ferrule wraps for "strength", but that's subjective.

Mike,
I emailed Dan and he confirmed what you said about the wrap lenght needing to be twice the diameter of the opening. Thanks! Re: Dan Craft Ferrule Wraps

That's awesome Andrew. I didn't know about that change. It makes these blanks even more perfect... Take care and I'll be in touch. Josh Markvan www.markvanheirloom.com Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
