Good morning, folks,
I want to build up a short rod for a friend of mine. I focused three Rainshadow blanks. the 5´ #3, the 5´ #4 and the 5,6´ #4 – the #4 are my favorites. To decide, I need some information about there fishing abilities – especially how they match to the line classes and how they perform. By the way, I would build them up with single leg guides. Thanks for your answers ahead. Regards, Frank Re: Rainshadow 5´/5,6´ #3/4

They all match the line classes perfectly, at some distance. That's the thing about fly rods - any rod will throw a 4-weight line, at some distance. Same with the other line weights as well.
Better bet is to try and find the ERN figures from the Common Cents System and compare how much power each rod has. Then you could come a lot closer to seeing if it might load well with the line you use, at the distances your friend normally fishes. ................... Re: Rainshadow 5´/5,6´ #3/4

Have only tried a RX7 5 ft 4 wt of those mentioned. It was properly rated for it's line size and the close quarters work it was designed for. Nice little rod. It was built with all single foot wire guides and a Fuji 10 CLAG stripper. It worked very well Re: Rainshadow 5´/5,6´ #3/4
