Hey guys-
My old man just purchased a 25' Contender and would like so deep water jigging rod for some offshore trips he'll be taking. Most likely, he'll be using some heavy irons and weights + bait in the 10-16oz range. He'd prefer a fasdt action rod int he 7.5-8' length. I've built several boat rods for bass on the Calstar GF700 blanks (XL, L and M) and was thinking of going with the GF 800M (or H) for this. I'd appreciate any and all additoinal recommendation you all may have before I place the order. Rod will be spiral wrapped and matched with a Newell reel--not sure if he'll be using braid or mono. Thanks in advance for the help. Joe Re: Deep jigging boat rod

Problem with the GF's is they dont' do the best job moving the heavier jigs we use. GUSA Predator is a much better choice. Re: Deep jigging boat rod

The Predator. I built a 700H for a frined who PB fish's, used it for 2 years and liked it. His last 2 trips he took my Predator (that's the model) and said he liked it a LOT more than the CAlstar. Unfortuantely he didn't hook up, but when working the jigs it was a lot easier. If you want to see the PRedator, I have one in my shop. Edited 1 time(s).
