I was just watching my wife paint her nails tonight and got to wondering if it would work in mableing. I haven't yet tried it, but was wondering if anyone out there has and did it work? She did say it was enamel. I know I have seen some colors that I think would look nice. I'm sure I'll give it a shot next time I have a little finish left over from my next rod. Just wondering if anyone else has tried it. Happy holidays all.

Uh oh ... now you have started something! I do believe I will be in the boss' cosmetic bag tomorrow while she is at work. Heck, I already swiped the nail files for getting fuzzies. Re: fingernail polish and marble

You could try it on scrap and find out but I think it will dry too quickly to provide the degree of marbling you want and it's brittle when it cures. Expoxies produced for rod making will flex with the blank. Considering that the cost of a small bottle of nail polish, you're probably still further ahead with regular rod building epoxy.

I think that he's talking a bout using tiny amounts added to the epoxy instead of pigment as a coloring agent. Try it and see what happens! My main concern is that I assume (maybe incorrectly) that there is a drying agent of some kind in it that may have an effect. Also when using something like Testor's paint, you need to let it settle and pour the solvents off and use the remaining pigment. Give it a shot on a piece of scrap and let us know the results! Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Re: fingernail polish and marble

Nail polish is also a nice finish for cork poppers.

Clear nail polish works GREAT to preserve the delicate finish's on expensive jerkbaits, just "paint" the entire lure starting at the head and work back in one nice THIN coat....been stealing the wifes for YEARS LOL

LOL DR.....me too. The pop-r's and jerkbaits from lucky craft work great, but they loose the finish way to fast. A free coat of my wife's clear is alot les than a new bait.!!!!!! Mark Syck SYCKO Custom Rods There Are No Limits To The Imagination Re: fingernail polish and marble

Get your nail polish at the dollar store.
I use it for fly head cement too. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
