Will I have problems using syringes that have been used with Flex Coat if I use them with Thread Master? Re: same syringe for TM & Flex Coat?

As long as you keep the resin and hardener syringes separate you'll be okay.
The only caution would be that if you have any of one brand left when you fill with the other brand, you can get some transference of properties between the two. For instance, if you had been using them with a brand that tends to yellow and they use them with a brand that doesn't, you may get some yellowing. Luckily, if you've been careful you won't have much of any previous brand left in the syringe so this isn't a terrible problem. ................ Re: same syringe for TM & Flex Coat?

I've shied away from using Thread Master finish due to comments regarding its application temperature. I recently read a post by Andy Dear saying he'd applied it at 60 degrees without any problems. That's about as warm as my shop area gets this time of year. Now to wait and see how it turns out. Re: same syringe for TM & Flex Coat?

I had no problems but I clean the syringes with alcohol between uses and my area is in the basement at about 60 year round it just takes longer for the finish to set Re: same syringe for TM & Flex Coat?

Why not have a syringe for every bottle. I buy them at a farm supply store for less than a buck for syringe and needle. I look for the largest gage needle that they have and tell the clerk that I have an elephant in the back yard that needs vaccinated. The blonde's usually believe me.

I live in a rural area, and tell the sales desk I'm doing peanut butter these days.... always good for a laugh. No-one here has worries about the syringes, because I request the bodies only, no needles. At the pharmacy, I buy the 3 CC models at .15 cents CAD, and at the feed store I can buy from 12 to 50 CC's for .35-95 cents. I used to eyeball the a/b components, but these days, I can't see like I could. Long live tri-focals...LOL.. It's only a bit more to buy the dedicated rod building type syringes, like the line comes with Trondak products. But the larger capacity versions permit a bulk transfer of A/B instead of several smaller, more potentially messy trips, or a miscount of how many \a's or B's are moved.
The silicone issues are dealt with, with a lint free cloth, to wipe off the rubber plunger. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 12/18/2006 08:46PM by Ken Driedger. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
