Hi all,
Just wondering what the oppinions and thoughts are on the Sage VT2 blanks. I'm interested in the 8'6" 5 weight 4 piece model. If anyone has any alternate suggestions I'm more than willing to listen. Thanks for your help Jeff. Re: Sage VT2

Jeff -- I have build two rods on VT2 blanks -- the 8-6 3 wt for myself and the 9-6 6 wt as a wedding gift from the bride to the groom. Both are excellent rods and fish well. Of course, the VT2 rod is a bit softer than the rocket powered high speed demons like the Winston BIIX and the Sage Z-Axis but if that is what you want then the VT2 will probably serve you well. When you use high end components you end up with a premium rod. Sage has to keep their cost dorn on these rods so they use good components but not the premium stuff for grip and seat.

Well, they killed the XP and LL series lineups...the only two that I thought were worth anywhere near their asking price.
Try a Dan Craft Signature V. For $120ish, you won't be disappointed. There is no 8'6" 5wt, but the 8'6" 4 or 9'0" 5 are both great rods. Scott Kinney The Longest Cast Fly Rods [www.thelongestcast.com] Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
