I'm installing a cork grip with a rubberized cork butt. It has the plug to fill the hole after installation. I was wondering how much room to leave between the end of the blank and the butt of the grip. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks, Ron Greenbank Re: rubberized cork

1/4 of an inch or less is about the space I leave in mine between the butt end of the rod and the butt end of the added grip.
The rubber center that goes inside the cap can be as long as you want, it will be in line with the hole in the blank itself-no worrys there. DR Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 11/17/2006 01:40PM by Duane Richards (DR). Re: rubberized cork

Put the plug into the grip at the same time that you bond the grip, use a bit of Rod Bond on the plug edges. Push the blank to the end of the grip and then use the plug to push it back the other way until the plug is fully seated, this will put the blank at the tip of the plug. Be sure not to push the plug any further than flush with the bottom of the butt grip, it would be even better if you left it a bit raised. The next day, or when you finish the rod, sand the plug until it is 100% flush and level with the bottom of the grip.
Hope this helps. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
