Hi, I'm trying to find the name of the lodge and E-Mail address of the makers the beaver tail fly rod handle. They did have a site back in 04. It's a strange liking fly rod handle that extends over the top of the real seat, looking so what like a beaver tail. They install the handle them self's on rod butt sections you send them. Like the Maniform handle It's usefull for person's that may have specal needs. I would like any help you all may be able to give. Thank You; Re: Beaver Tail Fly Rod Handle Extension

It was a fly shop, somewhere here in the U.S. I haven't seen their ads in a while, however.

Thank You Dave, That was the lodge that is offering it. I was told about this kind of handle back in 80 by an old timer and than again in a rod review in 04. It lets you move your hand back more for better blance, comfert and control when needed. Good Rod Building; Re: Beaver Tail Fly Rod Handle Extension

Actually moving your hand FORWARD on the grip will give you better balance, comfort and control.
Moving your hand back too far on the grip only makes things worse. Re: Beaver Tail Fly Rod Handle Extension

I too didn't find the beavertail grip of much use except on short light rods where it's most comfortable to put your hand very close to the reel. The Maniform however has been a nice grip for some who have hand problems like arthritis, etc. The fishing part thereafter gets some getting used to however, it's a little different.
