This was covered in the volume 4 #1 issue of RodMaker.

The numbers relate to the number of threads you wrap per pass. For instance, if you see "3" then you would wrap 3 of the same color in that pass (up and back, or right and left, depending on how you like to consider the passes). So...

Lt. Blue.....Dk. Blue
5.....................1
4.....................2
3.....................3
2.....................4
1.....................5

That simple sequence wlil give you a shaded progression Light Blue to Dark Blue. You'd start by making an up and down pass with 5 light blue threads. Then follow with an up and down pass with one dark blue thread. Then make an up and down pass with 4 light blue, followed by an up and down with 2 dark blue. So on and so forth. Get it?

If you wanted to take that into a third color it would look something like this:

Lt. Blue.....Dk. Blue......Purple
5.....................1
4.....................2
3.....................3
2.....................4
1.....................5.................1
.......................4.................2
.......................3.................3
.......................2.................4
.......................1.................5

Does this make sense?

I would keep the Numbers small, the fewer threads you have in one color the harder it is for the eye to pick up the single threads, so they will blend better together, I usually dont go over 3 threads, for more Info E-mail me or call mrcrous@aol.com, 304-3220055
