Rayon Thread

I have seen a lot of discussion about using Rayon threads for wraps and it is not good. I am well into building a rod using Rayon thread. It did have some bleeding of colors on some of the larger guides but the wraps on the tips worked out pretty well.

In the process of re-doing some of the wraps now and have applied put two solid coats of CP and I'm ready to epoxy. Is this a hopeless cause on the larger wraps / guides?

I saw one person say "Rayon is not suitable for rod building". Is this a structural issue or because it is a pain in the A*& to work with?

Thanks.

I have used Rayon and made it work, but if you want it to turn out you need to make sure you pack it very, very, very well and then make sure you CP the living daylights out of it. Because it is so hard to work with I won't use it any more, just not worth the effort.

Why bother when there are toms of alternatives. Want color? Try Madeira - 330 colors of Polyneon which is widely used on rods. Nylon, which has been long proven and many other polyester threads that can even be found in sewing stores. Sulky metallics (wide array of colors). Do a search here for THREAD and you will get a ton of info.
There is really no need to go through all of thr hassle that you are going through now and still not be certain of the results!

Thanks to all who responded. Scott is correct and I also will NEVER EVER work with this stuff again. I am committed to finishing this rod and that is it. Definitely file under "Do Not Try This at Home".
