The Rodbuilding.org directory is an excellent resource for those wishing to find rod builders in their area. It's helpful to be able to meet or correspond with other builders in your area when you run into a bind or perhaps need a spool of thread or a single guide. That was its purpose and many of you have told me that you find it very helpful.
Occasionally someone will attempt to use the directory to send unsolicited spam email. This is regretable but an unfortunate fact of life on today's internet. I do have things set it so that no one can mine or collect your email address - your email address never shows and any message sent to you goes through a blind header. Unless you respond to the sender, they never see your actual email address. This pretty much keeps out the companies that do mass spam mailings or collections, but it will not stop unscrupulous individuals or organizations who have the time to sit and send out emails one by one. We have such a situation taking place at the moment. I have contacted those responsible and hopefully this sort of conduct will stop immediately. If it doesn't, I'll go the next level. I apologize to those of you who may have received such spam in the past few days. Fortunately this sort of thing is indeed very, very rare and overall very few have ever had any trouble with spam coming in from the directory. If you are being bothered by spam email originating from someone using the directory, please forward it to me and I'll do what I can to put a stop to it. Any message sent to you by private email originating from the directory will have the following message subject - "Rodbuilding.org Directory Message from xxxxxxxx" so they're easy to spot. Do remember that they cannot copy or mine your email address from the directory in any case. Don't respond and your address will remain invisible to them. ............ Edited 1 time(s). I've only gotten a couple spams through the directory in two years. One from a dealer whom I don't buy from and one from an organization that seems a little desperate. I just deleted them both. No need to apologize for what others have done. Just file them in the trash and go on about your business. Re: Rodbuilding.org Directory

I set the directory up so this sort of thing wouldn't happen on a regular basis, and it doesn't. But those with time on their hands to sit and send messages one by one can certainly do it.
The latest spam was generated by members of an organzation that is denying any control over what their members/agents do. Very poor in my opinion. If it was my organization, those members/agents wouldn't be members/agents past noon today. Hopefully they're nearly done and it will abate very soon. Again I apologize if it has caused any of those listed on the directory an inconvenience. Hopefully that's all it was - a minor inconvenience. .................
