I probably didn't explain my previous question very well. Here is a picture of a rear grip with the rubberized butt that appears to already be turned down to size. Is this butt end loose and gets glued into place after the grip is installed? I'm just wondering if there a tenion on one of them or if it's just held in place by glued butt joint? Thanks.

They give you a Tenon with the grip, assuming you order teh -R grip which comes with the Rubberized butt. AW Preformed Cork is very good, you can do better with rings, but from what I have seen it is very consistant and worth the $$$. If it is like other grips I have used in the past before using rings, the rubberized end is already attached and should have a plug with it to close up the end of the rubberized section after it is installed on the blank. At least that's how they come from StCroix for their handles. Re: Here's a picture of the grip with rubberized butt I was referring to.

It's just like a regular butt cap. The end of the rear grip is morticed and you just glue the cap on after the grip
is installed flush with the rear of the blank. Raymond Adams Eventually, all things merge, and a river runs through it.. Re: Here's a picture of the grip with rubberized butt I was referring to.

Yep, I believe Mike is right. The St. Croix grips come with a couple different sized plugs. If you use care, and inset the blank so that you can push the plug in, the glue line on the plug is just about invisible.
I bought some rubberized rings from a sponsor and am now making my own. Re: Here's a picture of the grip with rubberized butt I was referring to.

Push the plug in as far as it will go, use a sanding disk to get it flush. Re: Here's a picture of the grip with rubberized butt I was referring to.

That's the grip that I thought you meant and I have used it. There is a cork or plug produced from the rubberized material that you use to fill the hole used for the blank insertion. As Billy mentioned, you just sand it down a little bit to even the surface and hide the seam and you're done. Sam Stoner Re: Here's a picture of the grip with rubberized butt I was referring to.

Sam's right The only thing i will warn you about is be careful when sanding. The cork comes with three plugsn for reaming and you just plug it in at the ebnd based on the size you needed to reem bor the.
the bi9g warning I would give is to be careful sanding. Those prewforns are filled in every gap and sanding exposes them big time.. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
