I just finished putting a coat of 811 cp on a wrap. The wrap did turn a darker shade but I knew that would happen. How many coats of cp is normal, how long between coats and how long to let dry before applying a finish?
Thanks, Steve btw, this is my first time using Madeira threads and cp. So far I love the threads but am still leary of the cp. (fingers crossed) Re: C.P. questions

I use a different CP but for the first rod I did with Maderia thread I only used one coat of CP and had no problems at all. I myself use Brilliance for my CP. Re: C.P. questions

One nice wet coat and then at least overnight to dry. Two coats will not hurt, but unless you're using very light thread over a very dark blank it's rarely necessary.

Tom,
I gave it a good coat to where it changed the shade of the thread consistanly through out the wrap. It wasn't what I would call a flood coat but just a good coat. Thanks, Steve Re: C.P. questions

I'm not sure what a flood coat is. As long as you got the thread very wet - you can usually tell this because it suddenly turns uniformly dark, then you've done all that is needed.
One mention to be made is that you don't want to thin or overthin the CP. When guys use 50%CP and 50% water or alcohol they're not really putting anything on the wrap but water/alcohol and neither of those will seal anything. They just evaporate. .............. Re: C.P. questions

Tom,
It did darken uniformly like you said so hopefully I've done it right. We'll find out tomorrow when I put a coat of finish on it. Thanks, Steve Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
