Madeira thread

I've seen many references in this forum to Madeira thread, but must admit I'm not familiar with it. Curiosity has now gotten the better of me and I have to ask. Is this just a particular manufacturer or is it a specific type of thread? How does it differ from Gudebrod, Angler's, or any of the "typical" nylon threads available? Does it have advantages or disadvantages? Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Mark, if you type madeira into the search function here and select ALL DATES, you will get enough information to make you go blind. Madiera is a brand of thread that is VERY popular with builders. It comes in about 350 colors and has a very brilliant look to it. The one that is used is their Polyneon #40 and metallics www.madierausa.com @#$%& ( a sponsor on the left) carries it. Using CP is pretty much a must as it is with most threads that usually are treated for use in high speed sewing machines.
