2-tip graphite fly blank

A client needs a rod with 2-tips (says he "can't keep from breaking them.") Does any supplier/builder carry a graphite fly rod blank with 2-tip sections included? I haven't seen 2-tips since I quit using my bamboo rod in 1970. I appreciate the help. Bob

The old wooden rods, the better ones anyway, came with two tips not in case you broke one, but so you could swap tips each day. Fishing with a damp tip would often result in a permanent warp so you were advised to swap out the tips each day.

Because of the cost, most graphite blank companies don't supply two tip blanks, but I think there would be a pretty decent market for them if they did. Just gives a guy a little extra insurance on that once in a lifetime trip, and gives the custom rod builder another option that commercially made rods don't offer.

Hopefully, some of the manufacturers will see this post and try offering two tip blanks in some of their more popular models. The only problem is that if they don't sell, or guys request just the one tip version, they're stuck with a lot of unuseable tip sections. That's the main problem I see.

I have 5 flyrods that I purchased through www.beulahusa.com All of their guide series graphites come with an extra tip. They offer blanks but I have never enquired to see if the blanks come with two tips as well. James and Margaret are terriffic people to work with. Hope that helps

The Loop Green Line and Grey Line blanks comes with two tips.
I'm have one of Bob Meiser's Switch Rods with two tips but I'm not sure if he also sells blanks for single handers.
... and I would ask Dan Craft if he can sell a blank with two tips for some extra money.

Whenever I build a custom rod for someone I always order two blanks of the same model. I build one and hold the other for one year in case the rod I sell breaks. After one year I build on the second blank and buy a match for it and so on. I see no reason why you can't buy two blanks and build two tips and charge the buyer for two blanks... Bob.

Unless the supplier tip checks the two blanks the second tip may not fit the built rod correctly, I'd bet there is a slim chance of it happening. Whoever the supplier is they need to know about what you're doing prior to shipment.

Exactly - ferrules are often hand fitted and buying two blanks does not ensure that each tip will fit the other butt. Great idea, but use caution in this regard.
