Just wanting to say, as a newbie. My first rod I used Flexcote thread finish, it came out great but very hard to work with. I switched to dura gloss for the next three, much better working time, great finish, but still had diffuculty with air bubbes in the butt wraps. Thanks to everyone on this board, I tried threadmaster tonight and it is the best. User friendly, very few bubbles that are easy to remove, and levels great.

ThreadMaster is indeed a very, very good epoxy finish, but none of these finishes are the least bit hard to work with. I think as you continue along in rod building and gain more eperience that you'll see that nearly all of them are user-friendly and give good results once you perfect your technique a bit.

Of course, like most builders, once you find something that seems to work well for how you do things, it can be wise to stay with it.

It seems like every year we get a 'new and improved' epoxy to finish wraps with.
I have used many of them and do like the threadmaster product.
But, as Tom said, Whatever works for you - use it.
If they were truely 'user friendly', they would apply themselves automatically - LOL

If people spent more time on important things, there would be a shortage of flyrods.

wasn't knocking any of the products really, they all seem to be very good. just that threadmaster seems to work the best for me and the way I apply finish. no dryer box, limited experience, etc.

If it works for you, stick with it. It's a really good finish.

I've used most, and I use Threadmaster exclusively now. Not saying others are bad, but I have great success with TM and find it very user friendly
