roller guide spacing

Does anyone have a favorite spacing for the Aftco Lightweight roller guides? I will be putting them on a 7 foot, RX 4, 1 piece Batson blank. The rod will be used for trolling deep with lead core line for large lake trout. Thanks in advance for the information.

You'd pretty much space them in the same manner as you would any guide set. Always pay attention to the butt roller so that under full load the line is not down on the foregrip or your hand. Don't put it so close, however, that you have a really extreme angle down to the top roller on the butt roller guide. At full spool, the line will make good contact wtih the top roller when the rod is not heavily loaded, but don't overdo this.

You can always start with spacing similar to some commercially made rods that use the same guides and then tweak from there if you like.
