Hi eveyone, I need help. I'm going to be building on a rainshadow IST1263F and would like to use a exposed blank casting seat with a 13 in rear grip. Has anyone built on this blank? What inside dia. seat would I need for this location on the blank? I don't want to order the seat after the blank,(extra shipping costs and hate to wait). Not knowing how much the rod tapers at this point from the butt dia. that's listed, if it is enough to make a difference.

Darin,
The diameter of the blank at the point where you are going to put the reel seat will be quite a bit different, smaller, than the butt diameter. I would send an e-mail to Karry at [[email protected]] and he will know what size reel seat that it takes. Re: exposed blank reel seat

If you just tell the supplier where you want the seat when you buy the blank, they will measure it for you and make sure you have the right one. I know that Bob at Custom Tackle has done this for me. Re: exposed blank reel seat

NetCraft is very helpfull in that asspect. When I order from them, customer service will ask what length I want the rear handle to be. Then they take my phone # and call me back with the sizes I need. Re: exposed blank reel seat

Like Steve said, work with the supplier!! Just tell them where you want to place the seat and they will take care of it! Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Re: exposed blank reel seat

If you are going to use the textured exposed blank reel seat be sure to have the blank vendor fit one up. You will not be able to ream the textured seat like a solid graphite one to make the final fit up. If you do end up having to ream a textured one be sure to try and cut out the hole with a very sharp blade or knife or it will end up looking bad or peeling. Re: exposed blank reel seat

thanks bill. I am planning to use a textured seat and have sent e-mail to batson. thanks for the input everyone, I am new at this and this will be my third complete rod with one rebuild inbetween. I believe if your going to do something, jump in and go all the way. Darin Travis Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
