Hey guys,
Does anyone know of an upgrade thread carriage for a pac bay/batson power wrapper. Gosh I didn't want to have to build one. Thanks in advance

Howdy John,

I've got a couple on order, but they aren't going to work on Madeira spools. The stems are long enough to hold 100yd & 1oz. (domestic) spools, period. These are the carriages that are shipping on the new style RW-3L's. The tensioners apply friction to the spool rather than to the thread. Nice to have around for metallics.

I fixed a iD sleve and set up to use maderia spools on my Batson and Flexcoat. Just take a piece of dowel long enough to run it thru the top aof the madiera spool and drill a center hole with your lathe that will slip over your little spool holders and you got it............

John you could also get a @#$%& Thread Tensioner from All American Guides. They are very accomadating in changes to get their stuff to work for your situation.

Mark,
On that new thread carriage - I recently got a new Pac Bay with the one in that pic and what I found out is that the rods holding the spools is a 1 piece rod that goes through and is held in place with a screw underneath. Just remove the rod and replace it with a longer piece of all thread and it will handle the Madeira spools fine. Works great.
The chuck in the pico of the wrapper says upgrade chuck, but it sure doesn't look like it. The upgrade chuck is almost $100 by itself and is silver metal wood lathe type chuck
