I've been using black and garnet thread on matte charcoal (gray) blanks. I was wondering if anyone who has used Gudebrod # 441 charcoal-colored thread on these blanks would care to share their opinion? I'm thinking that it may look pretty nice with garnet trim. Thanks, Vance Re: Gudebrod 441 (Charcoal) Thread

I used it on a Scott A2 blank, a matte dark grey, and was not happy. The thread turned a pinkish/purplish hue. Not really charcoal at all. It might only be a result of contrast with the dark blank, but I wanted a true gray wrap, and that's not it.

I used the #441 as a trim band sandwitched between a silver metalic trim band and #720 gray all without cp on a GLoomis GLX charcoal blank - looked great. I would have used #441 on my St Croix rebuild but the local store was out of it - try a test spot on your blank where your grip or reel seat will go. I didn't have any hue problems with mine, I thought it looked nicer than plain ole black thread. Re: Gudebrod 441 (Charcoal) Thread

I used it on a G.Loomis S6010Granite blank (grey blank) and it looks good to me. And have also used Garnet as a wrap color on the same type blank and it too looks good.
