Ques about building a wrapper

Hi

I am making power wrapper and was wondering if instead of making the wheels or supports height adjustable if angling the head stock down slightly would work - then one could just slide the supports along till they contacted the rod. But the wheels would then obviously not contact the rod at 90deg.

What do you think ??

thanks

One time or another your going to need a set of rollers, V blocks, whatever that are level so your finish will cure level on the rod.

Also chances are the exact spot where the support needs to be is going to be where a guide belongs.

Riley,

Your idea is O K if you only work on one rod design, using the same diameter and taper blank ,of the same length, every time.

You want to be much more versitile than your suggested wrapper design will allow. Go to the photo section and let it be your guide.

I think it is worth making them adjustable. I did and I am glad. Once I got the setup to cut and drill the parts it was not a problem to make several supports at once. You are gonna use that thing for a long time so I would put the time in up front.
