Are you using CP? you could CP the whole thing and let it dry hanging down. That may give you enough tension that it will stay vertical till the finish sets, just wiggle it a few times and it should free right up. Re: Ring hook keeper

Actually I'm thinking on going with spar varnish since its on bamboo. Do I still have to put it on a rod dryer if I use spar rather than flex coat. Re: Ring hook keeper

Here's a thought....I assume you have a bent doo-hickee with the ring inside that, right? and the ring will do a flip-flop as the rod is rotated?
insert a thin 10" bamboo skewer thru the ring, run the skewer up to the corks, and tape to the handle. The bamboo skewers will bend before breaking, and are very easily got, are about a buck for 50 of the 10 inchers, make good stir sticks, good wrap / thread bunchers, etc. In the event a small bit of resin or varnish makes its way to the rejoinder of the ring and the keeper, it's easily removed after the fact. Works for me.... your mileage may vary. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/29/2006 09:12PM by Ken Driedger. Re: Ring hook keeper

I just stick a jam a small piece of foil inside the ring, enough to make it stand out of the way. The pressure against the strap holds it in place. Re: Ring hook keeper
