I am finnaly taking the step of converting my bench top drill press to a cork lathe and was wondering if anyone had any advice as to the best rpm. I can change the rpm on my drill by changing the belt size but am not sure what the best is. Also if anyone has any plans or experience in converting the press I could use the help. This rod building is addictive soon I think my wife may kick me out as I spend more of my free time building then with her. Thanks in advance for the help!!!!! Billy Re: Bench top drill to cork lathe

I still can't give specifics because I don't have my magazines in front of me. The Rodmaker article on making a lathe from a bench top drill press had that info in there I'm pretty sure. I think it was around 1500 to 2000 rpm but can't remember for sure. Consult the article rod the right speed. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
