I was thinking of building a spey rod for the great lakes....I am a novice spey caster and don't want to spend a lot of money initially....was thinking about the Forecast 11 ' 6
6-7 wt...has anyone built on this blank.

Would it be a good rod to start on....won't be fishing really big water...medium size rivers for Steelhead primarily...

I have built on the Forecast blanks and the customers were VERY pleased. I think they have a 14 ft blank too.

Joe,
There are a bunch of spey forums. Some are from the midwest and they have some builders on them that have tried just about everything. Blanks that are a good value get talked up a lot on forums. Give them a try.
