Recoil tip tops - RTTUL or RSCT for spinning rod?

In looking at the Recoil tip tops, REC makes a fly rod tip top called the RTTUL (ultra light) and a RSCT tip top to match the Recoil RSPG spinning guides. The RTTUL is a single loop whereas the RSCT looks to be a double wire loop that matches the RSPG spinning guides. In a 5/64 tube, the RTTUL weighs .200 grams and the RSCT weighs .280 grams. Wouldn't it make more sense to use the lighter weight RTTUL top or will the single loop look out of place with the RSPG guides?

Also, the ID of both the small RTTUL and RSCT is .210 which is the same ID as a #8 RSPG spinning guide. What purpose would it serve to use either #6 (.158 ID) or #7 (.187 ID) as running guides with a .210 ID tip top? Thanks.

I wouldn't use either. I'm not at all enamored with those tops and much prefer a ceramic tip. ANY ceramic tip.

I've got a customer rod (St. Croix Avid M spinning) with a REC tip that is under 4 months old and already has grooves in it. Not at all impressed.

A ceramic is going to wear better and be lighter.

Hello Tim
Have used REC recoil guides on a few rods and find them to work very well. The RSCT is a double loop. Depending on where your located you can get them from either Merrick Tackle or Anglers Workshop and I imagine several of the great suppliers to the left also carry them or can order them for you.
Regarding which to use the RTTL or the RSCT I have no preference as both should work assuming the angles on the loop fit the tip guides line direction and flow. As our good friend Emory says lighter weight is always better. I say that is true if all other things that matter are equal.

Would a titanium framed ceramic be a suitable sub for the REC top?
