I'm just starting to build a Dan Craft Five Rivers FTL905-6. It's the first time I build a rod with more than 4 pieces. I usually try to put a guide on every ferrule but have some problems to do that on that 6 piece blank and get a "friendly" line flow.
Who has build that rod and can help me with his guide spacing? Thanks. Stefan Re: Need help with guide spacing for FTL905-6

DAN CRAFT FTL-90-5-6
9-feet (108 inches) ... or 90 inches? 6-pieces. How long is each section? (20" if 108"? ... or ... 17" if 90"?) How long is the overlap on each ferrule? How far ahead of your reel seat do you like to put your stripper guide? I would imagine that Dan Craft could make a recommendation. I'm also hoping to discover what works on a rod with so many pieces. If you get a guide layout that works from RBO or DC, please let us know. I know what I've done on other rods of fewer pieces. But without the answers to the above questions, or having built that same rod, or one in that series, I think it will be hard to get any specific recommendations from another rod-builder. Thanks.for your consideration, Stefan. -Cliff Hall+++ Re: Need help with guide spacing for FTL905-6

For what it's worth, here is the spacing I used on my FTL 905-6:
4.5, 9, 14-1/8, 20-3/8, 27-3/8, 34-7/8, 43-7/8, 53-3/4, 64-3/4, 76-5/8. I used #6 tip top, then 8 #6 single foots, then 1 #8 single foot, then #12 double foot stripper. Casts great and flexes nice and smoothly. Only a couple guides are near ferrules but that is something I have never cared or worried about. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
