I have a customer who wants two spinning rods, with a reel seat where the cork covers the reel seat. He said he had a Loomis rod with this kind of seat.
I have found two possibilites. One is the Fuji S16HKC kit. The other is the St. Croix SGCS16. He prefers the rubberized cork butt, like the St. Croix. My question is, does the cork foregrip on the St. Croix turn, and push the graphite ring back over the reel foot? I can't tell from the picture in their catalog. Thanks Steve Broadwell Re: Need help with reel seat

I think your customer is talking about the old Wiebe reelseat style. Loomis still uses them on some of their rods. Anglers Workshop I believe has all the parts to set you up with some including one of their rubberized cork grip sets. Custom Tackle also has some Wiebe kits without the rubberized cork butt. If nothing else they have some decent illustrations at Custom Tackle to make sure you're getting the right stuff. You'll find them in the Handle Kit section. Edited 1 time(s). Yes, the foregrip is what turns to tighten the real seat to hold the reel. Another place that has this type of hadle is Jann's Netcraft as well. Re: Need help with reel seat

If the whole foregrip does not turn, you would see a grapghte nut attached to a reel seat hood some place. There are a few fly seats and I think spinning seats that don't have the whole fore grip turn but just has the cork incert where a piece of wood or woven grapjhite might otherwise be.
Now the style you are looking for, (spinnning forgrip) I want to try to make a Michigan grip out of and make the spinning part into an 5 " rear grip with a long fixed fly rod foregrip. either way that set up is great for cold weather fishing Re: Need help with reel seat

Thanks for the help, guys. I will probably go with the St. Croix kit.
