Using paint in your desgin

I would like to paint a small inscription under each guide. Can I put a coat of finish and then paint my design on the epoxy once it dries? I would then put a second coat of finish on over the paint to protect it from the elements. Will this work or will the epoxy ruin the paint?

You may have to seal the paint with a coat of CP or clear artist's fixative. Epoxy generally doesn't contain any solvents and thus it's not hard on paint and that sort of thing, but I have a few coatings smear without that sealer on there. Just to be safe, I'd seal it first.

Or... why not do a few tests of your own on some scrap blank pieces. This would be the definitive way for you determine how your epoxy will react (or not) with your paint.
